Treatment
ME/CFS is a complex illness and there is a great deal of variation in symptoms between individuals. Any advice given on this site, or any other sites should be treated with care as if it does not suit an individual sufferer it may cause deterioration in their condition.
Treatment for ME/CFS is slowly developing but it is very sporadic at present and often controversial. The Government's National Institute for Clinical Excellence is at present reviewing guidelines for GP's and we are hoping that they will help GP's understanding and awareness of the best practices for treating ME/CFS. We shall have to wait and see.
Think carefully and make slow and gentle adjustments where possible in order to give yourself time to see how your body reacts. If you're not sure about doing something, try and gather more information, find out if other people in the support group have similar problems to you, or if you can, discuss with a health professional.
There are 2 ME/CFS clinics in North Wales in Caernarfon and Connah's Quay and if you are interested in attending a clinic your GP can refer you.
You can also be referred by your GP to the Consultant Dr. Vaterlaws at the Llandudno Hospital who has a good understanding of CFS and other related fatigue illnesses such as Fibromyalgia.
You may also want to look at other ME/CFS support groups and other websites for further information.
